When I Consider the Heavens!

“When I consider the heavens and the work of your hands. The moon and the stars which you ordained. What is man that you are mindful of him?” Ps. 8:3

stars in heaven

Have you ever awakened before the morning light peaks over the horizon?

There are many nights that I am awaken early before sunrise. I love the stillness of the early morning. The world sleeps while there are magical things happening in the heavens.

On Monday, I was awakened with the cares of this world taking over my thoughts. Wanting to escape from them I got up out of my comfy bed to attack my thoughts and begin my quiet time.

I walked outside to a crisp, clear morning with a touch of fall in the air. I was immediately overwhelmed with the brilliance of the starry night. The stars were twinkling like a million lights at Christmas. It was almost magical. The world was missing something spectacular. One shooting star sped across the sky. God’s canvas was there displayed for all his creatures to see.

Do we ever really stop to consider the heavens? What would that look like?

For me it was a reminder that the God I serve is so much bigger than the box where I tend to keep Him. The majesty and the splendor of all of the stars, the moon, and the planets. It leaves me stunned and humbled that God, the immeasurable God, would care about me and you. How could He long to spend time with me, and be “mindful of me”? I am just a speck, a grain of sand, one of billions of people created in His image.

Ps. 19:1 “The heavens proclaim the glory of God and the skies declare the work of his hands.”

Is. 40:26 “Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.”

I am a speck, a grain of sand, a blip on the radar. But God is mindful of me everyday. He who numbers the stars and sees that not one of the are missing. He knows my inward parts and loves to fellowship with me and you.

I sit and I soak in all the wonders of God. Praise is the only thing that comes into my mind.

Father, I praise you for the works of your hands. Thank you that you have displayed all the beauty of your creation for us to enjoy. I confess that I don’t take the time to appreciate all that you have given us here to show your glory. Forgive us Lord. Holy Spirit remind us that our Father has displayed in the heavens his wondrous love for His creation and His people. Father teach us to number our days. Our hearts desire is to worship and enjoy you forever.

Your daughter,

Freda
