Teach Us To Number Our Days

Teach us to number our days

Teach us to number our days

Psalms 90:12 “Teach us to number our days, that we may present (apply) our hearts in wisdom.”

Somewhere in today’s busy, instant, gotta have “it” now society, we have lost our focus. We run at a feverish pace and never realize that our opportunities for today are gone. One day flies into the next and the week is gone, then the month is gone and soon years have passed us by, and we have regrets about the missed opportunities.

I am grieved by today’s cultural shifts away from the wisdom that comes from God and my heart mourns because we no longer make decisions based on His wisdom. God’s principles are for us to live abundantly but not selfishly. Do we even know what God meant by living abundantly? I don’t imagine that it means for us to have everything that makes us comfortable Many today, do not fear the Lord; therefore, they can never know wisdom in the sense God intended. Wisdom by definition is the ability to use the knowledge one has in application.

Wikipedia defined Wisdom as the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight. (Wikipedia)

No one seeks wisdom. Everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Jesus said he came that we might have life and that more abundantly. To live abundantly means to be filled with the presence of the Lord Jesus everyday. To see Him in all that we do and all that we are becoming. I like to think living abundantly is to “flourish”.

Word studies in God’s Word are fascinating to me. I love to search out the root meanings and dig to find hidden truths in God’s Word.

To flourish in one sense as “to twinkle”. Sparkle like in a crown. BLING in today’s language. It is to blossom. Bloom. My mother had a green thumb when it came to growing hydrangeas. The blooms on the bushes in her yard would be as big as dinner plates. Sometimes she would work her magic and they would be blue, sometimes they were pink. It all depended on what she added to the soil around the roots and the constant attention.

What are you adding to the “roots” in your garden? Will you let the Father add whatever it takes to make the color in your life “flourish”?

I pray you are flourishing out in Blogger Land. We would love to hear how you are being challenged by our blogs. Not for our sake, but for you, because first you “overcome by the blood of the Lamb”, who is Jesus Christ. I trust you have already made that decision. Second, we “overcome by the word of our testimony” Rev. 12:11. What is your testimony? Has God given you a word by which to live this year? We would like to hear some of your testimonies. Flourish children of the Most High God. Flourish!! Blossom!! Twinkle like the stars right before dawn on a clear night.

We would love to hear from you
