Judges 6:23 And the LORD said unto him (Gideon), Peace be unto (you) thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. (KJV)
Gideon, a judge of the Israelites, has just had a face to face encounter with an angel of the LORD while offering a sacrifice to the LORD (worshipping). It has put Gideon into a state of fearful awe. Coming face to face with holiness has a way of making us see ourselves as we truly are–exposed, lost, fallen, s-i-n-f-u-l.
The LORD continues to do what He has done since the Garden: Confront sin, provide redemption out of death, and cover us with His love.
God whispers His eternal promise, “I. Conquer. Death.”
This is the ultimate fear not for those who love the LORD and accept His sacrifice as sufficient. John 3:16 says, “For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His only Son and whoever believes in Him (Jesus) shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
There is nothing more I can add to this. It is as clear, as flawless and exquisite as Waterford Crystal.
