“Treading Water…” as a blog may be a little puzzling if you don’t understand the value of treading water to a swimmer. Treading water is not just bobbing in the water like a cork on a suspended fishing line at the mercy of currents, storms, and other unseen forces. Treading water is a vitally important skill to swimmers as a time to rest, re-orientation to direction of the journey, and to revel in the scenery that you miss during the swim. Yes, at times while treading water we become overwhelmed with fatigue, focus on the obstacles and how far we have to go, and forget how we have been sustained, and we sink beneath the waves, gasp for air, and struggle to surface completely out of control. It is here the unseen hand of the Lifeguard reaches down and pulls us up and pushes us above the tempest and gives us a little shove toward shore and we begin to swim again. He was always walking on the water right beside us, never leaving us alone!
We Treaders are very human, as Sharon said, “We are all real moms, real grandmothers, real sisters, with REAL problems, REAL pains.” (Deep Waters 10/23/15) We do grow weary. We do hurt. We are sad at times. We cry real tears just like you. We become overwhelmed with life. We fear the unknown. We Israelites forget all the Lord has done. We slip beneath the waves from time to time, and we write of how our Lifeguard has rescued us and those we love. We share our stories to give honor to the Lifeguard, encourage you our fellow “treaders” and to buoy you up until you are able to swim again…………we are in this together. Jesus said we are one body (I Corinthians 12:12)
II Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
So, THANK YOU for sharing the journey with us these last 16 weeks! IT IS MUCH!!!! (November 9, 2015) Put your sweet head back, relax, look up at the diamond filled night time sky, put your hands on our shoulders, breathe deep, and let us give you a little nudge toward the shore……………you can do the same for us another day.
This is how we tread together in the deep waters. The Son has promised to come again!
Thankful and Treading on,
Yvonne, Tricia, Freda, Sharon, Lisa, and Bonnie
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
See you again on Monday, November 30th as we begin to focus on Christmas!
