Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true…whatever is honorable…WHATEVER IS RIGHT…
Whoa.. hold the phone…
Whatever is right??
The English language has several definitions of “right”.
Right…not left= direction
Right.. “I have rights”
Right.???
Right-or-Just–Determining our actions by God’s revealed standard in Scripture.
How do I know what is the right?
The word used in the Bible language is dikalos which means “in conformity to God’s standard.” (Strong’s Concordance). “Dikalos describes whatever is in perfect harmony with God’s eternal, unchanging standards, as revealed in Scripture.”( biblestudytools.com)
That does not mean do what is right in your own eyes. In the book of Judges we find that over and over the people “do what is right in their own eyes.” What did it get them? Judgment! God’s standard has not changed. When we “do what is right in our own eyes,” judgment follows!
Today I am asking, what is right for me? Do I determine what is right by living politically correct? Do I live my life by social acceptance? Would I be ashamed and embarrassed if my thoughts were broadcast like a movie? Unfortunately, this is what we see in our culture today. Social media has provided people a venue to display every thought and every action in their lives. It sadly displays that most people “do what is right in their own eyes.”
Am I broken-hearted when I see some of these things? Yes! No! Sometimes!
The question isn’t what do I think!! It is what does God think when He sees our Facebook page, our Twitter accounts or our Instagram pics? Do we really think that Snapchat erases what we post after a certain time?
My treadin’ friends, my heart is not to write this as a judgment of what you do! I believe God’s Word is sufficient to judge a person’s heart. My heart is that so many are missing out on the most precious, most wonderful person who loves you and gave His only Son so that you could live an abundant life. Jesus gave His own blood for you. He came to set us free.
REMEMBER FRIENDS: Each thought you have today builds your destiny for tomorrow!
Finally, brethren think on these things! Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is true…
