Fear Not, He Knows My (Your) Name (#42)

Isaiah 43:1  But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel.  Fear not : for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by name; thou art mine.  (KJV)

Chapter 43 of Isaiah is a delight to Israel, it is also a delight to this adopted, grafted in, redeemed child of God’s.  I am part of His royal family, an heir, a priest, a member of a HOLY nation (this is what Scripture says whether I live like it or not, believe it or not, appropriate all its benefits or not).  This one verse is a reminder as often as we read it that He created mankind and though we are all individuals we are part of the human race-God’s highest creation.

He formed me: short, blonde, blue eyes, super sensitive, merciful, lover of horses, with lots of roles to fill.  He redeemed my sin, my failures, my faux pas, and words.  He called me by name.  He knows who I am!  Out of billions of people, He sees ME!  That is nothing short of astounding to me.  He knows my name, its meaning, the family into which I was born with all our skeletons, the family I married into with demons of their own.  But this may not be the name HE calls me by.  When I accepted His gift of salvation through Christ, HE wrote my name down in His book and on a stone.  (Revelation 2:17)   He carved my name into the palm of Christ, (Isaiah 49:16) and one day soon I will know what my new name is.

Abram became Abraham- Genesis 17:5
Sarai became Sarah-Genesis 17:15
Simon became Peter-Matthew 16:17-18
Saul became Paul-Acts 9:1-19

Names in Scripture are vitally important.  The name carried the character of the person: Jacob the supplanter became Israel the father of nations; Jesus, means God is salvation, is Immanuel, God with us.

In the book of Numbers the twelve tribes are listed as Moses begins the census. If you look up all the names’ (most we cannot pronounce) meanings they form a perfect sentence displaying an attribute of God……….it is really amazing. I will show you this sometime!

Listen for your name change.  It is important to the LORD.  YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO THE LORD!  DON’T GIVE UP.  NO ONE ELSE CAN FULFILL YOUR PLACE IN HIS KINGDOM!  His knowing your NAME proves this!   (He Knows My Name by Freda on 10/29/15)

About Yvonne Jones

I am at heart, a LIFEguard: "big" sister, mama, grandmother, aunt, friend, swimming coach, lifeguard trainer, and registered nurse. I am in the business of alleviating fear through education and lots of hand holding. As a swimming instructor, I have taught people of all ages to overcome fear of the water and I marvel as fear gives way to fearlessness, as panic turns to pure joy, as tears dissolve into giggles of glee, and pennies retrieved from the bottom of the abyss become trophies. As a nurse, I have been privileged to walk up to Heaven's gate as patients and family are welcomed home, witnessed the miracle of birth, helped mend broken hearts, and cared for the elderly as they wait. Scriptures number one admonition is "fear not." Question is HOW??? The Word becomes our swimming instructor and can help us learn to "tread water til Jesus comes." Something my students often thought I was going to make them do! So welcome to my pool! Jump in the cool water. Let it refresh your soul and feel the unseen hands of the Master Lifeguard lift you up and out of the deep water. Who knows, you just might even walk on water!
