Giver of Life by Ana Laura
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:10-11
Genie in a bottle? No! No, not, “Your wish is my command.” Not everything we think we want is in our best interest. You don’t give a toddler a knife just because his dad has one in his pocket. We are not always prepared for what we think we “need.” God, our Father in Heaven, knows us and is fully aware of our wants and needs. He placed them (those wants and needs) in our hearts. Yet, He often requires more growth and development before those gifts are given.
As a parent, I know the joy that comes from giving gifts to my children! I LOVE watching their faces light up. I know the way their gratitude fills me with delight and I feel the sting, the anger ingratitude and “entitlement” brings. This scripture is the supreme reminder that if this is the way I feel, how much more will our Heavenly Father desire to give us “good gifts?” God’s image in us is the source of our giving! When I give a gift to my children or friends or family, I am representing God. I am extending HIs hands and heart.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 Scripture tells us this is an indescribable gift (II Corinthians 9:15), a free gift (Romans 6:23), and provides all spiritual gifts (I Corinthians 12:4-6). Is there any greater gift than laying down our life for another? (John 15:13)
We are never more like our God than when we give and when we give to the least of these………..(Matthew 25:34-36) Count your gifts today and be amazed in all He has given even as the world around us falls apart.
Today, give a moment of your time, a smile from your face, a touch of your hand, a listen to a cry, and look deeply into someone’s eyes. Let the God glory in you shine in the darkness. Above all, give thanks to HIM for His many gifts. It is the season of THANKSGIVING!

Treading in an ocean of gifts,
And by the way, read Proverbs 21:14! There is another blessing hidden in His Word!
Thank you for this post today – I needed it exactly at this time.
