Narnia where “it’s always winter but never Christmas.” Is it always winter in your soul and never the blessing and wonder of Christmas? Maybe we don’t hear the whisper of God because we are focused are the wrong things to bring us delight, satisfaction and pleasure!
What brings you delight? What is most satisfying to you? Pleasure! We live in a world where it seems pleasure is all we seek.
We are often like Edmund in Narnia; we are always seeking always wanting more.
Material things may bring satisfaction for awhile. Fleshly pleasure never last.
Hebrews 11:24 “By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.”
How would you finish this statement? I am most satisfied when I _____________.
I love a beautiful sunset. I find the greatest pleasure in my grandchildren and now my great granddaughter. I find also that there is great satisfaction in studying and learning from God’s Word.
We will hear God’s whisper when we delight in Him. Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” When you delight in Him, He will align your desires with His will. He is not a genie in a prayer or Santa who fulfills your wish list. Just as a good earthly father, He provides the best for you and me.
Matthew 7:9 ““You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”
“God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him.” (from John Piper Desiring God)
Matthew 6: 33 ESV “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.”
Philippians 2:13 ESV 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
When we seek Him first, He promises to work in us both to do His will and work for His good pleasure.
Take a moment and meditate on these verses. Ask Him to give you a heart like David’s in this psalm.
Psalm 63:1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6 when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. “
When you seek Him you will find Him. Deuteronomy 4:29 ESV “ But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
Delighting in the Lord means we find peace and satisfaction. It means we desire His presence and to hear His voice.
Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
I have listed three music videos about being satisfied in Jesus. You will find they are from 3 generations of music genres. I love that God loves variety.
Please take the time to enjoy all three styles. You will be blessed I promise. One of our goals on this blog is to build you up in your faith. Music is one of God’s most powerful tools. God’s Word always is the primary tool of our faith.

Gaither Vocal Band “Satisfied”
Such fun watches the Gaither Vocal Band. I Love all these guys. Mark Lowery, David Phelps, Guy Penrod, and Bill Gaither. They have so much fun together. God loves harmony don’t you think?
Now for the place where I first began my journey in christian music, in a church pew with an organ and a piano. Look where we have journeyed. There are no voices; I used the verses as my prayer. Hallelujah ! I have found Him whom my soul so long has craved.
Satisfied from the Baptist Hymnal.
Delight yourself in the Lord.
