What Sound Are You Making?
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1 (NLT)
It is difficult to turn on the T.V. today or to get on social media and not hear arguing or see negative comments about others. It is sometimes draining. We are living in a time where everyone has to always be right or better than someone else. It is sad.
We must really break God’s heart everyday. Speaking from experience, I know that I have. But what I have learned is that it is okay to be wrong. It really is… Realizing that you are wrong about something can be an opportunity to grow and better yourself. This is an excellent teaching moment to children. We are teaching many of our children that we are always right which creates so many issues that carry over negatively. Let your children see you admit that you are wrong when you are. Let your children see you show love in situations where someone doesn’t deserve it, but you extended it anyway.
There is a better way. If you feel this is difficult, and sometimes it really is, pray. Pray for God to open your heart and eyes when you are wrong. Apologize when you should. Learn from mistakes and always strive to do better. We will not always agree with everyone, but there is a better way to disagree respectfully. You will be a happier person when you show love in all situations. Don’t be a noisy, clanging cymbal. Be a blessing!
Counting My Blessings,
