What’s Your Story?

Tell Them! I Love to Tell the Story! Spread the Good News

The prophet Ezekiel was exiled during the second deportation of Babylon as a young man. He was to be a priest in the temple of Jerusalem. But he never got to serve. Instead he spent his life in ministering to the remnant by the river Chebar .

Here by the river the people had hung their harps in the willow trees and wept. Their captors demanded a song. But their answer was, How can we sing the LORD’S song In a foreign land? Psalm 137:4

While they grieved and wept over their plight, Ezekiel is having visions of God’s glory. What a contrast! Weeping in exile and visions of God’s presence.

Even in the darkest days of our journey, God will give us rays of hope. Brilliant light of God’s Glory was given to Ezekiel. Ezekiel is the prophet who sees visions of the throne and the presence of God in His glory.

Ezekiel is given a very difficult message. He is to go to the people and tell them of things to come. Particularly, he is to confront them about the false prophets’ false message. False prophets were telling the people it will not be long before you can return to Jerusalem.

God says Ezekiel must go and tell them “You are not going back.”

Then God adds the following words to him:

Ezekiel 3:10-11

Then he added, “Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people in exile and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says!’ Do this whether they listen to you or not.” NLB

Whether or not they listen, you tell them what I have said.

Today I hear the words resounding in my spirit. “Let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people in exile (captivity, darkness) and tell them your story.

Our instruction is to love God’s word, study it, obey it and then GO! Tell someone. They may not listen but opening the hearts and ears is by an act of the  Holy Spirit’s power and not by our words.  J Vernon McKee, in his commentary of Ezekiel says , “You will never love Him (Jesus) unless you love the Word of God.”

DO YOU LOVE THE WORD OF GOD? How much of it have you let sink in your heart? If it were taken away, how much of it would you know?

We live in a day and time when there is a famine in the land, not of food but of the word of God. Amos 8:11 Today statistics tell us that most people are biblically illiterate. I pray we will begin to “hide his Word in our heart.” Then we will not be ashamed on the day of His coming. But also, we will have His truth burning in our hearts and the desire to share it.

Ezekiel was told by God if you tell them and they do not listen, their blood is on their own hands. BUT, if you do not tell them, their blood is on your hands.

GO TELL SOMEONE.

I hope that you already love the story of Jesus and His Love!!

I love the messages in the old hymns. They tell the stories of deep feelings within the writer’s hearts.

This is one of my favorites. I love to tell the story because I know ‘tis true. It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

I Love To Tell The Story

I love to tell the story
Of unseen things above
Of Jesus and his glory
Of Jesus and his love

I love to tell the story
Because I know ’tis true
It satisfies my longings
As nothing else can do

I love to tell the story
‘Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and his love

I love to tell the story
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest

And when in scenes of glory
I sing the new, new song
‘Twill be the old, old story
That I have loved so long

I love to tell the story
‘Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and his love
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and his love
