There it was.
The TRUTH I had fully never grasped.
My self loathing, a form of self idolizing and false humility (wish I knew where I read this, “hit me over the head,” statement), staring me in the face. Selah. (it means think about it!)
A truth I must now accept or reject: to accept is the invitation of God; to deny is the continuation of the status quo, which by the way ain’t working well and is from the pit of hell! A thief is trying to rob me of my identity. Am I giving it up without a fight?
In the last several weeks, EVERYWHERE I go and EVERYONE speaking to me is saying the same thing but as I read the words below the sword of the Spirit found its mark and began hacking away at the weeds choking out the beauty of the God designed garden called my life.
In Kathie Lee Gifford’s new book The Rock, The Road, and The Rabbi she writes on page 97: “Identity is destiny. If you allow your life to be defined by lies or by people who do not truly know who God created you to be, then you will be robbed of both your true identity and your full destiny. Our identity must come from and be found in the Lord. Like Peter, each one of us must answer Jesus’ question, “Who do you say I am?” How we answer this questions will shape our eternal destiny for better or worse. But, we must ask Jesus, “Who am I in Your sight?” In other words, “Who do You say I am based on Your infinite and eternal perspective?” Understanding the answer to these questions on a deep level is a key to experiencing the abundant life Jesus promised us. (John 10:10)
So I ask the question. “Jesus, who am I to You?”
Scriptures flooded my mind–His answer to my question……. Not being good with addresses I had a bit of Googling to do.
“You are a temple of the Holy Spirit” (John 1:12, I Corinthians 3:16-17, 6:19)
“You are a child of God, heir with Christ, son/daughter of Most High God, the ‘apple of His eye’” (Romans 8:14, 17, Galatians 3:36, 4:7, Ephesians 2:10)
“I call you my friend.” (John 15:15)
“You are a NEW CREATION-a royal priesthood, a member of a holy nation, my possession, a citizen of Heaven, righteous, chosen, faithful, my masterpiece, redeemed, blessed, wise” (II Corinthians 5:17, Philippians 3:20, Ephesians 1:3, 7, 2:10, I Peter 2:9,24, Revelation 17:14)
“You are a crown in My hand.” (Isaiah 62:3-5)
“You are FREE!” (John 8:36
“You are LOVED!” (Jeremiah 31:3)
“You are already seated with Christ in Heaven.” (Ephesians 2:6)
“You are the image of ME!” (Genesis 1:27)
“You are My witness of Christ on earth.” (Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 1:30, Ephesians 1:10b-11, 2:10)
“You are dressed in My armor. (Ephesians 6:11-17)
“You are a mighty warrior.” (Judges 6:12)
These fired in my brain like machine gun fire…………………………
Based on the Word, this is what Jesus says to ALL His weary followers: “STOP listening to the lies of the world!” Kathie Lee Gifford goes on to say the lies “are personal prisons that confine and limit us from being who God want us to be and doing what He has destined for us.” (page 118 of The Rock, The Road, and The Rabbi)
Self loathing is any disparaging words inflicted on oneself (audibly or silently) demeaning the creation of God you are. God says all He makes is good (perfection) and who are we to argue??? (I hear some people I know applauding!!!)
IF Jesus is LORD, then He alone gets to decide who we are: our identity and our destiny. Who do you say Jesus is? This is the first question. Now, you must ask Jesus the LORD, who He says you are and then move into your new identity and destiny.
Godspeed Treaders! He awaits on the shore, dinner is ready.

If you are new to the idea of reading the Word of God from a Jewish perspective, Kathie Lee Gifford’s book is a good place to begin. It explores the facts surrounding the culture of Jesus day. Scripture is a book written for the Hebrew people, by Hebrew men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. If you are a born again believer you too are now “Jewish” for you have been adopted into the family of God as a son of Abraham. (Galatians 3:6-9, 26-29)
