“Do You Move Your Feet?”

“Do You Move Your Feet?”

“ Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 (ESV)

Scrolling Social Media

Don’t you love it when you are scrolling through social media and the item you have been thinking of purchasing or things that have been on your mind instantly appear everywhere? It freaks me out just a little. Something that has really be on my heart the past few months is listening to God’s promptings and tugs. It has been difficult for me to be certain this is coming from God.

So as I am scrolling through social media I came across a video that Amanda Riggan, a FedEx worker, posted. She was delivering her packages and pulls up to a house to see an elderly lady at her mailbox. As she takes her two package to the door, the lady starts asking Amanda if she had a great Christmas. Then Amanda asked the elderly lady how hers was. The elderly replies, “Not good. My husband is sick and has cancer.” She starts to cry and Amanda tries to make small talk. As Amanda drives off, she can’t get this lady off of her mind. She feels like she needs to go back. As Amanda goes up to the door, the lady’s eyes are filled with tears when she realizes Amanda has come back. Amanda asks, “can I pray with you?” The two held hands and prayed.

Do you move your feet?

The Lord used Amanda on this day. In Amanda’s video, she explains that the point of this video is when you feel the call or the tug, “Do you move your feet?” Amanda goes on to talk about how busy she was at this time and how many more stops she had to make. Amanda chose to “move her feet” and let the Lord use her in someone’s life that she had never met.

I was very uncomfortable a few weeks ago in church when this happened. I kept feeling the need to hug the lady next to me. I just kept ignoring it. It did not go away. I started sweating a little and got a touch of nervousness over me. I was afraid. What will the lady think if I just reach over and hug her? I do not know her other than from seeing her in church and Wal-mart. So during one of the songs, I mustered up the nerve and put my arm around her. In return, I felt one of the sweetest arms wrap around me. After the song was over, we squeezed hands. As I left for church, this sweet lady turned to me and said, “I’ll see you at Wal-mart.”

You can be a blessing to another person

I know that this was just a simple hug. Sometimes I think it’s just that simple though. You never know what someone’s needs are each day and what a blessing you can be to another person.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)

About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18.  My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.

It’s so important to take advantage of those opportunities. Sometimes I don’t move my feet, and I always regret it. But God gives us more chances to encourage others and comfort those with the comfort we have received from Christ. Thanks for a thoughtful post.
