Don’t Worry, He Knows Our Needs

Don’t Worry, He Knows Our Needs

Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles it takes away today’s peace.

Matthew 6:34 NKJV, “do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Why worry?

Corrie ten Boom said “worry does not empty tomorrow of sorrow; but it empties today of strength.” Jesus tells us not to worry about things. He assures us He will provide. In Matthew 6:28 Jesus asked, “why do you worry?” And in verse 32 He said that our Heavenly Father knows what we need.

Celebrate

A second look surgery was requested of us in the fall of 1978. Our daughter, Amy, had completed two years of chemo because of a malignant tumor. We had celebrated with friends and the nurses at the hospital had given her a cake and gifts. MDAnderson wanted to do an exploratory surgery. It was easy to think that possibly the cancer wasn’t all gone. Perhaps it would return in the near future. So many things to cause worry. Also, should we put our 4 year old child through another surgery.

Friends

After a conference with the surgeons, we decided to grant permission for them to take a second look. Our dear friends, Suzanne Echols and Laurie Young, made arrangements for our pastor, Joe Bates, to join us for the surgery. After the surgery, the doctors reported to us that Amy’s cancer was gone. They didn’t think she would ever have this cancer return. She was indeed healed of cancer and we were blessed!

Butchered

Nothing to worry about, right? All is well that ends well or so we like to think. The doctors did tell us that Amy was ‘butchered’. What exactly that meant wasn’t important to us that day. Only in time did we learn what the consequences of scar tissue would be for our child. We were so happy to be assured that she was cancer free. After a couple of nights in the hospital, we traveled home to recover.

Pray with Thanksgiving

Are you one to worry about tomorrow? Philippians 4:6 NCSB, “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

God wants you to share every worry with Him. He loves you and desires to give you peace.

Think ahead – plan ahead – don’t worry ahead.

About Paula Wallace

A child of God, wife, mother and grandmother of 6 precious children. I love art, nature and treasure my dear friends. Through the valleys and mountaintops, God led me to His saving grace at the age of 32. Since then the valleys and mountaintops have proven His love to me. I am learning to trust Him in all things. My prayer is that you, too, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and trust Him. The Bible verse that I lean on mostly is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”NKJV Paula Wallace
