Go Therefore: Time to Do Something

GoMatthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.”

The Great Commission

Known as the Great Commission, Jesus commands Christians to GO. We are to go make disciples, baptize and teach people how to observe the things in the Bible.

A disciple is a learner who follows both the teaching and the teacher. They not only are taught, but are imitators. A disciple of Christ will follow Him and imitate Him in their lives. As a Christian comes in contact with people, we are to tell them of Jesus.

Acts 1:8, “you shall be witnesses to Me in the uttermost parts of the earth.”

Go-Witness on the Earth

Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He left instructions of where we are to share our testimonies about Jesus and who He is. He tells us to go to the uttermost parts of the earth. Some people are called to go overseas and other countries to share Jesus.

My brother is leaving this week on a ministry to Africa. He is going with a group to try to provide fresh water for a people who have a need. His heart’s desire is to not only provide water, but to make a difference in their lives for Jesus.

Would you take time to pray for him, his group and the people who they will be witnessing to this week.

Acts 1:8, “you shall be witnesses to Me….in Judea.”

Go-Witness in Judea

Judea represents areas of the country besides where you live. Many have an opportunity to go on mission trips to others states. Youth trips are planned sometimes so the youth can help communities in other states. As we go, we should share the love of Christ in our witnessing and expressions of caring and giving.

This week a group of men and women named Bethel Builders are leaving to go to Ohio. They plan trips each year to help a church in another area of the country to build and outreach in the community. Would you please take time this week to pray for the Bethel Builders as they travel and for their safety as they work. Also, ask God to change lives through their expressions of love throughout the area.

Acts 1:8, “you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem”

Witness in Jerusalem

Jerusalem symbolizes the local area or community in which we live. We all have neighbors and friends that may be unchurched or do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus says in Acts 1:8 that the Holy Spirit will empower us to be witnesses. Maybe someone is sick or grieving that you can take a meal or just take the time to spend with them listening. Vacation Bible Schools are happening in many churches this week and this month. What an opportunity to teach children and perhaps their parents about Jesus and His love. Would you take the time this week to pray for VBS. Pray for the teachers and that the hearts of the children be receptive to the word of God.

Acts 1:8, “you shall be witnesses to Me…..in Samaria”

Witness in Samaria

Samaria was a town of cross cultural people. The Jews looked down on the people of Samaria. Jesus; however, tells us to witness to everyone. Jesus in John 4 went through Samaria because the Bible tells us He needed to go. He met the woman at the well who questioned why Jesus asked for water from her because she knew the Jews had no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus’ love had no boundaries. All people should have the opportunity to know Him. Would you pray this week for people to love one another. Show love and kindness. Show Jesus in you.

About Paula Wallace

A child of God, wife, mother and grandmother of 6 precious children. I love art, nature and treasure my dear friends. Through the valleys and mountaintops, God led me to His saving grace at the age of 32. Since then the valleys and mountaintops have proven His love to me. I am learning to trust Him in all things. My prayer is that you, too, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and trust Him. The Bible verse that I lean on mostly is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”NKJV Paula Wallace
