What Breaks Your Heart?
” A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:10-12 (NLT)
In my forty-six years of living on this earth, I can say I have felt so many moments of unbearable pain which has broken my heart. These experiences have come with being a daughter, sister, mother, friend, and a teacher. Pain is something so hard to handle when I witness it in someone else’s eyes, especially a child.
What Can We Offer?
Something God has placed on my heart this school year is to keep my eyes wide open to notice the pain others are in the middle of. What can we offer to others when we see them in pain? Do you take the time out of your day to offer compassion, love, or just an ear? We are all so busy with our everyday lives, it is so easy to miss what others are going through.
Take Time Today
I beg you to take the time to notice others this week. They are right under your nose in all directions. Pray for God to move in the situations he places you in, and don’t forget to continue to place others in your prayers who you notice have a need. Don’t forget about them.
So as you look at this week, think about the things that break your heart daily. Hand them over to the Lord. Open your heart to others and don’t forget to continue covering them in prayer all week long. Tend to the important things that really matter. Offer of yourself all that you can, living it like it was your last day on earth.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 (NLT)
