“What Do You Want to Give Your Children Part 2“

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 (NLT)

This is part 2 of ““What Do You Want to Give Your Children.” As I was preparing for my bible studies class, I came across a sermon by Billy Graham. He preached on how today, young people feel they have been deceived. He agrees saying, “they definitely have and so have all other generations. Billy Graham says the devil deceives and brainwashes people through drugs, money, and countless other “pleasures.” (Billy Graham Evangelistic Association)

“This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.” He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.” 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 (NLT)

Children need to know how to resist the devil and listen to God’s voice and promptings

Wow, do we know this to be true today through experience with ourselves or others we know. This is why is so important to have conversations with our children. I am so late in doing this and I wish I had started sooner with these types of conversations, but it is never too late! Don’t get me wrong, all conversations we have with our children are beneficial, but the ones like resisting the devil and listening to God’s voice and promptings to lead and guide us are essential.

Give your children the gift of prayer -Learning to communicate with God

My bible studies class is continuing the study, “Gifts I’d Give My Children,” by Todd Wagner. In session 2, Todd says something that is THE KEY!!! “No relationship is good without communication. Your daddy, God, wants to hear from you.” He stressed how we are to pay attention to the Word of God ALL the time. (Gifts I’d Give My Children, Todd Wagner)

Today, let’s offer up a special prayer for our children to pay attention to the Word of God ALL the time. Stress to your children to recognize deception. We do not want to be the parent who wishes they had these important conversations with their child.

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 (NLT)
