Thankful for Grace

“A Charles Chips” Moment

“Thankful for Grace”

“But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.” 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NLT)

Even though I wake up daily, so thankful to the Lord for all he has blessed me with, there is something about Fall that kick starts my spirit. When November rolls around, it reminds me of how abundantly I have been blessed with so many things in my life, especially God’s grace.

“A Charles Chip Moment”

My friend, Jennifer, told me a story. When she was a little girl, she lived in Florida and looked forward to a delivery of “Charles Chips” to her doorstep. It came in a tin can that she would always enjoy sharing with her brother. When the can was empty, Jennifer would place it on the doorstep where the delivery man would pick up and leave a brand new can of “Charles Chips.”

Listening to Jennifer tell about this childhood story was priceless because of the look in her eyes as the memory took her back to how she felt. No matter what was going on in a particular day, what frustration she had, or what she endured throughout the day, the delivery of “Charles Chips” helped her and made all the difference. This is what God’s grace does for us. It makes all the difference.

I am so thankful for every new day I get to experience the grace of God. It is such a peaceful and wonderful feeling to know that I am able to start a new day, attempting to doing life better. Grace gives us hope. Todd Wagner said, “Grace runs toward those who recognize it.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (ESV) (Gifts I’D Give My Children, Todd Wagner)

What’s your “Charles Chips” moment of the day that makes such a difference? Do you recognize God’s grace daily? Giving grace to others is one of the most valuable things we all need. I am so thankful for the grace God shows me daily, and for who I am now because of Him. I know I do not deserve it, but I am so thankful he gives it to me.

Counting My Blessings,

About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18. My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.
