Is Jesus Missing?

Missing Jesus

The nativity scene pictured was a gift from my brother and his wife years ago. I have greatly treasured it as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. Each year it is placed in a prominent place in my home. As I set it up this year, I realized the baby figurine was missing. In my carelessness, I didn’t store and protect the small piece very well.

Isaiah 7:14, AMP, “Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: listen carefully, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and she will call His name Immanuel (God with us).”

Only a Holiday

Almost half of my life was spent celebrating Christmas without Jesus. It was only a holiday, a time to give and receive gifts. A time to gather at my grandmother’s on Christmas Eve and impatiently wait for everyone to finish eating so we could open gifts. Then sleepless nights waiting on Santa.

As a married adult, Christmas became a time of stress. Overspending and trying to please everyone. My attitude was that of a Scrooge. There was no true reason to celebrate – just false expectations.

The Reason Became Clear

In 1982, the reason for celebrating Christmas became clear in my heart. Jesus was invited to be part of my life. The meaning of Christmas has become so much more than gifts and food. It is about love, His love for us and the love we share with others.

He came to earth as a baby and gave His life for you and for me.

Jesus Will Never Leave

The baby figurine has not been found yet. It is still missing from the manger scene, but Jesus is not missing from my life. His word tells us He will never leave or forsake us.

Enjoy Christmas.

Remember the true meaning.

Remember Jesus Christ and share that loving spirit with others.

About Paula Wallace

A child of God, wife, mother and grandmother of 6 precious children. I love art, nature and treasure my dear friends. Through the valleys and mountaintops, God led me to His saving grace at the age of 32. Since then the valleys and mountaintops have proven His love to me. I am learning to trust Him in all things. My prayer is that you, too, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and trust Him. The Bible verse that I lean on mostly is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”NKJV Paula Wallace
