The smell of Christmas brings such joy and fond memories of days gone by. Smells of cinnamon and cloves, fresh baked cookies, cakes and pies. We can’t exclude the smell of cedar or Frazer Fir. A warm kitchen with the smell of turkey baking reminds me of my childhood Christmases at my grandparents. Family, food and the excitement of opening the gifts from under the tree bring so many happy memories.
II Corinthians 2:14, HCSB, “But thanks be to God who always puts us on display in Christ and through us spreads the aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.”
Breath in the Exquisite Fragrance
Did you know you had the aroma of the knowledge of Christ everywhere you go if you know Him as your Savior. God allows us to spread this aroma among our family and friends. As you gather with people during the holidays, your aroma will spread the knowledge of Christ. The Message Bible puts it like this “everywhere we go, people breath in the exquisite fragrance.”
II Corinthians 2:15-16, “For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To some we are an aroma of death leading to death, but to others, an aroma of life leading to life.”
Christlike Aroma
There will be many who will embrace your Christlike aroma, but others will be uncomfortable and perhaps a bit irritated by your presence. To those who know Christ, your aroma is life. To those who do not know Christ, you represent death. We must remember our battles are not flesh and blood, but of the Spirit. Show love and kindness to everyone even if you sense some friction.
Revelation 5:8, “When He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and good bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”
Incense of the Saints
Surrounding God’s throne is the incense or aroma of the prayers of the saints. Jesus enjoys the aroma of His people. Your prayers mean so much to Him and could be described as Exquisite Fragrance.
Merry Christmas!
