Do you ever wonder during this time what will become of church as we know it? Will people become more dedicated to worship, gathering together and sharing Christ? Or will we become stagnant, out of the habit of going or content staying at home? One article I read regarding church in another state said they were considering limiting church attendance to 50%. How would that work and who would be the chosen 50%? Will people become frustrated with the whole thing?
Entrust God to Fight
As I ponder these thoughts I am reminded this is God’s Battle. However, we have a part to play. We must pray and entrust God to fight this battle. I Chronicles 5:18-22 tells of a battle that some of the tribes of Israel fought against the enemy. The Israelites waged war.
Cry to the Lord
I Chronicles 5:20a, “They received help against these enemies because they cried out to God in battle.”
The Israelites received help against the enemy because they cried out to God in battle. The verb cried signifies the action of calling on the Lord in a time of need, issuing a summons for help. The enemy was handed over to them after their cry to the Lord for deliverance.
They Trusted Him
I Chronicles 5:20b, “He granted their request because they trusted in Him.”
God granted their request because they trusted in Him. The word trust means that the Israelites felt safe and secure by relying on God to deliver victory. God can deliver victory in our battles if we cry to Him (ask) and trust.
Ask and Receive
II Chronicles 20:20, HCSB, “Believe in the Lord your God and you shall be established.”
Sometimes I wonder if I am “crying out” enough. Am I failing in the battle because I don’t trust enough? These are lies of the devil. Cry out to God, ask and receive. Trust Him. We may not ‘feel’ like winners at the moment, but trusting God is not about feeling. We must do our part in praying and obedience, but trust that God will do His part.
Bring Revival God
I firmly believe the church will survive this ordeal better than before the ordeal. I know I am ready to gather with the church assembly.
God can deliver victory in our battles if we cry to Him (ask) and trust.
