Spillers Reaching Others
As I watered my pots this morning, the thought of the Holy Spirit and the Living Water permeated my mind.
Thirsting for more filling and longing for a deeper relationship with the Lord is a steady cry. Observing the thriller in the pots reminds of Jesus Christ who died for me. The filler keeps me focused on the need to spend more time in the word and prayer, constantly praising Him. The spiller, which trails over the edge of the pot, reminds me of the people whose lives I have touched. Also, the need in my life to reach out to others and tell them about Jesus.
Beauty of the Spiller
The third and final plant selection for a mixed pot is the spiller. This is the plant that spills over the edge and flows from the pot. The spiller adds beauty and unity to the planter as a whole. As it trails through and over the edge of the pot, all the plantings come together in such lushness. One example of a lush spiller is the green potato vine. It has become very popular for a spiller.
There are other varieties of potato vine that are less vigorous. Asparagus fern, trailing vinca, ivy for shaded areas, scaveola, creeping jenny and dichondra silver bells just to name a few spillers.
Love of Christ Spills Over
Matthew 28:19, NCSB, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.”
As a Christian, spillers remind me of the fact that I need to allow my love of Christ to spill over into my community. Sharing Jesus with others among my neighbors and friends. Reaching out to those in need. Jesus Christ tells us to go out into all areas and share the gospel. Show love for each other by giving and doing for others.
Overflow With Hope
Romans 15:13, NCSB, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The Bible tells us we can overflow with hope if we believe in Him. The origin of hope in our lives is the ‘God of Hope’. The reason for our hope is Jesus. The source of hope in us is the Holy Spirit. This does not involve wishful thinking. When the love of Christ overflows in us, we have hope which brings us joy and peace.
Overflow With Love
Let your love overflow. Focus on Jesus, the thriller. Read the word, pray and praise Him to grow spiritually and be the filler. Share your love of Christ with others and allow the hope to overflow in your life.
Enjoy your walk with Christ. Enjoy the beauty of the planters you have so carefully prepared.
