Tale of two cities

It was the best of times, It was the WORST of times.

Light Will Shine

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”

Charles Dickens

Do you think this is an appropriate description of today’s world?

With hopes shattered that 2020 would be a much better year, we struggle with our day to day living. We are anxious, feeling alone (perceived or real), and feeling that there is a dark shadow hanging over us. When will it end? What in the world is going on? Be encouraged. Keep your faith and your Bible close to you.

Our hope is found in the faithfulness of our God.

Ps. 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;

The Lord gives grace and glory;

No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

James 1:17 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

1:17 “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”

Psalm 139:12 Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.

When darkness surrounds me

My steadfast hope still lies in thee

When the shifting shadow turn from night to day

Your light will show the way. (Me from the Lord to my heart today)

Shadows implies that there is the presence of light. “God is light and in Him there is no darkness” 1 John 1:5

Only God and His Word can revive our hopes, bring peace and joy, relieve our fears and doubts. Trust HIs word. It is the anchor that keeps us from drifting.

Be A Light! Let God’s love Shine through you and me!

Say to Fear, No More! “Greater is He who is in me than in the world” 1 John 4:4

Psalms 112:4

“Light arises in the darkness for the upright;

He is gracious and compassionate and righteous.”
