Draw Me Close to You Michael W Smith
“A Little Bit Closer”
“Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” Psalm 25:4-5 (NLT)
Slow Down
One of my spiritual goals over the last few years is to continue to get closer to God. Having a full day, chasing my tail on some days, and just checking off my to-do list sometimes doesn’t leave much time for the things that really matter. I have tried to teach myself to put some of the things aside on my list and slow down. Doing this allows me to put my time into getting a little bit closer to God.
What Will Happen
I love watching LeAnn Hart’s live videos on Facebook. To say I am a huge fan of hers is an understatement. She is a stock contractor but also wears many other hats. LeAnn did a live video this month saying, “It’s okay to get a little bit closer to God.” As she was outside with her bulls, she told about how curious they sometimes are and like to get close to her, eating out of her hand. She explains how this reminds her of spending time with the Lord and how she is curious and often wonders what will happen if she gets a little bit closer to God? (LeAnn Hart Ministries)
Our Good God!
This made me stop everything in an instant because this is exactly my thinking this week. With so much going on, I have found myself letting worry trample all over me the last week. So a few days ago, I reminded myself of the practice that has been put into place over the last six and a half years of my life, and I did exactly what LeAnn preached in her live video. I got in my bible, prayed, and I gave all of my worries and doubts to the Lord. I asked Him to have His hands all in my mess. This is how GOOD God is. He answered every prayer and laid things on other people’s hearts that I prayed for Him to.
Get Closer
If you are walking through something today, I hope this stirs something up in you to get “a little bit closer” to the Lord. If you want to hear from Him, get in your bible and let the Lord guide you, and don’t forget to talk to Him.
Counting My Blessings,
