So, you say you want to go to heaven?
WHY do You want to go to heaven?
WHY? If I might ask? After meditating on it a few days, I began to ask a few people close to me. It was to be only a question. No judgments, not being nosy. I just wondered what their reasons were for living life eternally in a place we really only know from our imagination. Maybe somebody told us it was a better place. Maybe we read a little about it from scripture. Maybe we read a book about someone’s death experience. Or maybe we think about being reunited with our loved ones again. Perhaps a pastor preached about hell and we knew we didn’t want to go there!
All the above statements were answers I received. I did have a couple who excitedly told me they wanted to see Jesus.
One Way
Jesus, the one who gave His life’s blood to redeem fallen sinners like me and you.
He is the friend who is “closer than a brother.” Jesus told us He was going to prepare a home for us. NO Mortgage payments. Yay! Then there is His Father, God the Father who formed and created each of us before the foundation of the world! We were in His heart from the beginning of time. The person of the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit) who sent His one and only son so we would not have to forever live in a fallen world. Finally, we have the Holy Spirit to guide, teach, correct, and reprove us.
Thinking more deeply
These statements are some of the things I thought about when I asked myself this question. My conclusion was sometimes I love this world more than I realize! All of the things of this world are passing away. Only the things eternal with last! Where did I go wrong? Where has all of mankind gone wrong?
The enemy’s deception
We believed a lie! Satan has convinced us that we deserve to be happy while we are here. God does want you to be happy, forever! I hear the enemy now! It’s the same lie He told Eve in the garden, where it all began! “Has God said?”(Genesis 3)
God does want us to be happy! Most importantly, we have been stamped with the image of God on our hearts. There is incredibly more He desires for us.
Heaven will be more than we can imagine
Consider the question in your quiet time with the Lord. Spend time really getting to know the God of heaven. It will be more wonderful than you can think or imagine.
All the answers from the friends are correct. They are truly great things to think about. I believe the Lord wants us to long for Him, for His appearing, and for us to behave like His bride. Unfortunately, we sometimes act like Satan’s bride. Harsh! I know at times I can behave nothing like Jesus and more like our enemy, Satan.
Let’s be ready for Jesus when He comes. Smiling, excited, and loving His appearing.
