“God Is In Control”
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah 55:8 (NLT)
Not Everyone
I was listening to Sadie Roberstons’ podcast the other day. She and her husband, Christian, shared their story of the birth of their daughter, Honey. Sadie was quick to say she is a planner and always has everything well planned out in advance so things go smoothly, the way she wants them to. To say the birth of her daughter did not line up with her plans is an understatement. She and Christian were given a scare during the birth. Honey’s shoulder got stuck and most of the time when this happens, the outcome is not the best. (Sadie Roberston)
Sadie’s Story
Sadie went on to tell about how their birth story had a happy ending, but she realizes not everyone does. This made me think a little about how I always share our miracle story, but I don’t really think about how others feel. Some do not get the outcome we did; I always pray for people, love on them, and encourage them. I just have a little taste of what it feels like to be in this position, where one doesn’t get what they prayed for.
A Blur
When it was uncertain whether Jacob would wake up or even recover, I do remember life being a blur. As a mom, I felt there was no way I could live my life without my son. When I was in this four-week span, I remember being given the power and the endurance to keep trusting and holding on to hope. I believe many people experience this and my heart breaks for the ones that do not get the ending we did. I sincerely pray for you and pray you to trust God is in control. He loves you and He hurts right along with you.
Taking Me Back
Sadie mentions the song that was playing during the birth was, “Oceans.” She talked about what this song meant to later hear and how it reminded her of the birth now and it was difficult for her to play it at first. I can relate to this because there were certain songs I would play as Jacob was in his coma, and in the beginning, it was hard to hear them because it took me back to the most difficult times where I was not getting the ending I wanted. Now, these songs are so beautiful to me and it reminds me how we praised the Lord in our deepest of valleys and called out His name!
