Life Treading Water

One of the reasons we named this blog “treading water til Jesus comes” is that is exactly how we feel most days. We start our day with our list of things we want to accomplish. Before long, we find ourselves moving some of the tasks to the next day. We are already underwater fighting our way back to the surface.
So many things fill our lives. So many concerns we have for our families, friends, communities, our country, and our world.
Peace is the word for today’s blog post!
Where is the peace from all the troubled waters that are surrounding us?
Recently, I read from the book of Daniel 4:17,25 the story of Nebachazzer. It was while pondering this story, I thought of a quote from school, probably a civics class. I had to look it up to get the whole quote, thank you, Mr. Google.
The quote was from a speech of Benjamin Franklin while the founding fathers were writing and forming our constitution.
The phrase of the speech that stirred my curiosity was “God governs in the affairs of men” Below is part of Franklin’s speech.
Ben Franklin’s speech
“I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth — that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that “except the Lord build they labor in vain that build it.”
Franklin continues His speech
“I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall be become a reproach and a bye word down to future age. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human Wisdom, and leave it to chance, war, and conquest.

So long ago, these were men who believed our nation would be a Christian Nation with freedom for everyone. They were wise enough to know that only when we live under the protective hand of God, will we stand united as a nation.
Treading water with peace
What does this have to do with peace or how we are treading water while waiting for Jesus’ return?
Fear of the unknown
Today, we are literally struggling in every aspect of life. Covid, CRT, (school’s teaching our children race theory, Churches having problems getting back to normal, war, borders.
“Get used to “different”” is what we are hearing.
The answer? Prayer
I found this from David Wilkerson, a great evangelist:
David Wilkerson
It is a wonderful assurance that ? as God once told a dear servant of His, David Wilkerson ? Whatever calamities and disasters may happen on earth, in the final analysis, God has everything under His control! This is the clear teaching of the Word of God, assuring all who truly believe and want to go with the Lord that He is in control and that He has all power in heaven and in the earth. It is for this very reason, precisely because this is so, that we, His children? those who truly believe in Him and in His power ? can and should continually pray: ?Father, let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.? https://israelmybeloved.com/it-is-god-who-ultimately-rules-the-affairs-of-men
Knowing God brings peace
This said it all! Our peace comes from knowing God has a plan. We can’t see it all right now. But trust he has laid it all out in His Word! Spend time with Him in His Word, pray, let your request be known to Him… He hears and answers.
Comforting scriptures that help
Isaiah 30:15,18
Trust the LORD
15The holy LORD God of Israel had told all of you,
“I will keep you safe if you turn back to me
and calm down. I will make you strong
if you quietly trust me.”
18The LORD God is waiting to show how kind he is and to have pity on you. The LORD always does right; he blesses those who trust him.
My Peace I give you…Jesus
John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Reminders:
God is in Control
He has a plan
We are protected by HIs hand
He left His Peace with us.
We need to appropriate these things to tread through these last days.
KNOW JESUS KNOW PEACE
Still treading with Jesus’ help!
