Touch
When people recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding countries. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed. Matthew 14:35-36, Mark 3:10, Luke 8:40-48
Smell
For we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? (To those who are perishing we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are life giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this? NLT) II Cor. 2:15-16
And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Gen 8:21
And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Eph 5:2
…and Aaron”s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is on the wood that is on the fire, as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD…and the priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering made by fire for the sweet aroma; all the fat is the LORD’s. Lev 3:5,16
He shall take from it his handful of the fine flour of the grain offering, with its oil, and all the frankincense which is on the grain offering, and shall burn it on the altar for a sweet aroma as a memorial to the LORD. Lev 6:16
Hear
How sweet are thy words unto my taste. Psalm 119:103
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord I am coming.” Psalm 27:8

Embrace
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3b
“Love can never be satisfied with mere words. It wants an embrace, the touch of a hand, the feel of living skin on living skin.” (Rev David Bast, Words of Hope, 1/20/2008 woh.org)
I am doing The 40 Day Sugar Fast. (Book by Wendy Speake) I am failing miserably but doing better than the previous two times I have tried. What is standing out to me this trip around Jericho is, it is about yearning for more of Jesus and less of EVERYTHING else. The Bible is filled with adjectives describing this yearning. We all yearn for something more! We all are trying to fill a void with _____________(fill in the blank). NOTHING is going to fill this vacuum we have in our hearts. It can be filled only by (SomeONE) the Spirit of Jesus. In Joel 2:12 we read, “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to ME with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” But, Psalm 16:1, reminds us. “In YOUR PRESENCE is fullness of joy.”
The gist of this fast is this: “it heightens your spiritual senses.” The LORD gave us our senses for a reason!
Spiritual Senses
Everything I am reading and studying right now is repeating this theme over and over! My senses are vital to this experience of being His Bride. Our senses warn us of danger and they confirm the rightness of something. The smell of something rotten warns us of disease, decay, death. The smell of a sweet fragrance reminds us of life, beauty, and happiness. Smells can turn on memories in a flash. Flavors remind us of the goodness of food. Touch helps us protect ourselves from injury or bring comfort from simple pleasures like a soft blanket, a newborn baby being held, a cool, damp cloth on a fevered brow. Hearing is both noxious and soothing, joyful and full of sorrow, silent or full of reverberation. Vision provides mental input of our surroundings, recognition of others, and spiritual insight.
Lately, the enemy has robbed many of their sense of smell and taste using the cover of a manmade virus..Age robs us of sight and hearing. Disease and disability destroy our ability to feel, move, or reach out to others.
Our senses can give us permission to “lean in” and leaning in allows us to let go of our anxiety and fear. We relax into the strong arms of the Savior. When we melt into His arms it is evident to the world in our body language, by facial expressions, and through our activity. Anxiety and fear are not hidden as we think. It is seen in our body as pain, hunger, longing, withdrawal, crankiness, and panic attacks. We are seen by the world like children sitting on Santa’s lap: we are either experiencing pure joy and excitement and anticipation or we are in terror because we don’t know him, trust him, or believe him. Which child are you?
Tune In
Tune in to the gifts (senses) we so often take for granted. These priceless gifts alert us that the LORD is near or that we have moved far from Him. And remember, God, smells us just like we smell others. What is the fragrance you wear? God sees. God hears. God feels. God touches. God uses His senses and as children created in His image, we should use ours to seek Him! Taste and see the LORD, He is good!
Satisfied
My soul shall be satisfied with marrow and fatness; my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips. Psalm 63:5
Oh how I love this devotion. I want more of Jesus.
Love you sister!❤️
