May the Words of My Mouth

The Importance of Words

Well, it was said. Nick Sabin opened the door to controversy and comments all around the board. The NIL in college football is a hot topic among fans, players, and coaches. His comments have caused other coaches to come out swinging, a rebuke from the SEC Commission and he has had to publicly apologize for his words.

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 NKJV

For me, what was said, who said it, or why it was said is not the lesson we need to learn. How often have we spoken something and wish we could suck those words right back? How many times have we said something that has forever burned in the heart of a friend or family member?

“Let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.”

Romans 14:19 NKJV

Our role as followers of Christ is to build up others. Encourage and speak kind words. Think before speaking to avoid the hardship and embarrassment of saying something hurtful. Speak words that please God. Don’t fall into the trap of harsh, hateful words and remarks. God is love and we should share that love through our actions and words.

About Paula Wallace

A child of God, wife, mother and grandmother of 6 precious children. I love art, nature and treasure my dear friends. Through the valleys and mountaintops, God led me to His saving grace at the age of 32. Since then the valleys and mountaintops have proven His love to me. I am learning to trust Him in all things. My prayer is that you, too, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and trust Him. The Bible verse that I lean on mostly is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”NKJV Paula Wallace
