From the front porch and beyond:
Learning to follow in grace.
I recently had a conversation with an athlete, humbly, he told of his pride in leading in his sport. Of his thoughts that it was his mission to set the pace; to be upfront. Leaning on his own strength and carrying those struggling. He confessed arrogance played a role, too. I may be wrong, but I felt he might have struggled with those that endurance and speed did not match his.
Let me stop and tell you, this man had and has a testimony for Christ, that showed without speaking the first time we met.
God reminded him gently that he had a new role.; God, plays the biggest part in bringing wisdom.
New beginnings aren’t easy
The lesson of humbly following, and encouraging the weary, the one that has not or is not at the top of their game has become the new focus. Bending knees to lift those that now are at the top of their game, praying they learn to follow in grace, even from the front.
The struggle is real
He confessed it was still a struggle at times and God reminded him gently that he had a new role. That HE was doing a new thing in his life.
But God’s in His Grace
His leadership role had shifted to leadership in a different role. Still leading but in a different position.
Many of us struggle when God decides the time is right to do a new thing. I struggled and failed miserably when God decided to do a new thing and I was very comfortable with the old.
Heaven Father,
Thank you for your wisdom in doing new things in our lives.
Help us to clothe ourselves with your compassion, kindness, and patience, help us be humble and accepting of the new things you bring to our lives in Jesus Christ’s powerful name.
Amen
