The planting of seeds and expecting a certain kind of harvest is one thing this country girl understands.
“As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.“ (Genesis 8:22 KJV)
When Daddy was deciding what to plant, he knew that our family, the cows, the mules, the pigs, and the chickens would need corn for food during the year. We would also need corn for grinding into cornmeal to make cornbread and other things. In order to get a crop of corn, he would have to plant kernels of corn, not peas, not beans, not peanuts.
A particular seed would be needed .
Jesus said, “I tell you a truth, unless a kernel of wheat fall to the ground and die, it remains only a single seed. But, if it dies, it produces many seeds “ (a rich harvest of fruit). (John 12:24 KJV)
What can we learn from the “seed “? It has an outer part that is called the seed coat or the husk; this shell protects the inner kernel. The kernel is the softer part of the seed, the core. Inside this core is the nucleus, the most crucial part of the seed.
Everything that this seed is to become is in this center area. The “DNA” or “life of the seed“ is located here; its real heart and soul will flow out of this tiny kernel. Its greatness to become all that God placed in it will one day burst forth with growth and produce a mighty harvest of fruit.
Our Heavenly Father also knew “something special“ would be needed to redeem mankind, – – – “A certain type of seed would be needed.”
Behold, I and the children which God has given me. Since the children have flesh and blood, He also shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy the devil’s power of death over their lives–and free them up. He did this for Abraham’s seed (descendants). He had to be made like them in every way, in order to make atonement for all the sins of the people. Paraphrased from Hebrews 2:13-17
Jesus chose to allow the Father to plant Him as the “Precious Seed of Heaven“ into the earth.
“But, we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone..…. In bringing many sons unto glory,” (Hebrews 2:9,10b NIV)
Jesus’ outer coat was wrapped in flesh and blood. His inner core held the DNA of Father God the eternal element for living life forever. His inevitable death would come through excruciating pain, and a miraculous rise to new life, and the fruitfulness of new life to all who would believe.
So thankful for the “Precious Seed of Heaven”
