“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
In August of 2015, Jacob really began to start coming out of the fog that he was in. He was beginning to get tired of all that he faced on a daily basis. He channeled that into Crossfit, yogo, and his therapies.
So as most people do when something life changes happens to them, Jacob began questioning God and asking the hardest question that I have ever been asked. “Mom, why did this have to happen to me? Why did I have to lose so much?” It is hard to answer a question like this when you don’t understand it yourself. My response to Jacob was that one day we will see the whole picture, but right now we have to have faith in your healing and trust God. We have to remember that evil never wins.
So on the days when I saw defeat in Jacob’s eyes, I reminded him that God loves him, he is for him in all that he does, and evil will never come out on top. So Jacob started to seek God for
answers and shortly after, he started getting phone calls to share his testimony.
Psalm 22:22 I will praise you to all my brothers; I will stand up before the congregation and testify of the wonderful things you have done.
Soon after the first date was on the calendar, I began to get very nervous. Jacob had never stood up in front of a congregation and done this before. The day came for him to share his testimony for the first time. He was not at all nervous, but excited. He opened up with this verse.
1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
I had no idea the impact he would make on others, the tears that would be shed, or the lives that he would touch. I was in awe of God. We all were. Jacob just stood up there and as he looked back on his life, giving a detailed account of the events that took place, he revealed how God worked overtime in his life.
We are reminded every day how much God is for Jacob. God is for all of us. I have learned more in the last three years than I have learned my entire life. I have learned to not handle things my way, to have a heart of faith, to trust God to care for my family, to be patient and wait, and to never stop praying.
