“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (NLT)

The Best Advice

I read an article the other day that made me really think about numerous things. This young lady, Holly, at the young age of 27, died. She left a letter her family decided to share. In this letter, Holly didn’t share about all of the things she would never get to do. She encouraged us in her letter to be grateful, to let stuff go, be kind, to breathe, spend time with the people you care about, be a good friend, to give, say the I love you’s, do good, and make the changes that you need to make in your life. (Holly Butcher)

I also read another article about another young lady. There were so many things that she wished she had the energy to do. Things like clean the house, wash clothes, cook dinner, go to the grocery store, go to work, and endless others. Things this sweet lady wished she had the energy to do, but just can’t. The things on her list are most of the things I dread doing.

Make A Difference

For most of us, this is true. These are the things we let out huge sighs over because it’s on our to do lists that seem to never end. In Holly’s letter, she talked about getting out in the world and loving every minute of it. Just live, be kind, and make a positive difference while we are here. Don’t let your routine get in the way of living your best life. Love living your life. Love helping others.

I Get To

Let’s all make an effort to do better with our time here. Stop whinging. Instead of complaining and saying things like, “I have to wash the clothes today. Instead, I have to go to work today.” Replace your “I have to” with “I get to.” Also think, I get to go to work today. I get to cook supper for my family. I get to plan the vacation. Remember some people are living a very different life than most of us. Focus on the many positives in your life. Focus on the things you ”get to do,” not what you “have to do.” When you feel like you can’t focus on the positive, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you.

Focusing on the positive

Changing my thinking this week has changed my week. It has thinned out all of the negativity and dread of the things on my to do list. I wish I could say thank you to these two precious ladies who inspired my “I get to’s.” This week, as I have washed the dishes, you have put a bob in my head . You have put a dance in my vacuuming experience. You have created a very spastic person watering flowers. I hope no one has been watching.

Counting My Blessings,

About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18.  My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.

We would love to hear from you
