In Luke 2:15-16 we read, “When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’ So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.” (NIV)
Anyone else tired and too busy?
It seems everyone I know including myself is “hurrying off”. The shepherds “hurried off” to find the Christ child but we are “hurrying off” to satisfy the world’s idea of Christmas. We have to find the right gift(s) for family, friends, and sometimes people we feel we must buy for because they will give us a gift. Baby Jesus received three gifts.
The true meaning of Christmas is in “the gift,” Jesus Christ! I challenge all the treaders out there to take a few minutes out of your terribly busy day to meditate on the words of one of my favorite Christmas carols.
Don’t just read them. Your brain probably has them memorized so s-l-o-w d-o-w-n.
O– Come-All-Ye- Faithful!
O COME-all-Ye- Faithful
O COME ALL– Ye- Faithful
O COME ALL YOU Faithful
O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL
O Come All Ye Faithful
O Come Let Us Adore Him
1. O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold him, born the King of angels;
Refrain:
O come let us adore him, O come let us adore him,
O come let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
2. True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,
lo, he shuns not the Virgin’s womb;
Son of the Father, begotten not created;
(Refrain)
3. Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;
(Refrain)
4. See how the shepherds, summoned to his cradle,
leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;
we too will thither bend our joyful footsteps;
(Refrain)
5. Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,
we would embrace thee with love and awe.
Who would not love thee, loving us so dearly?
(Refrain)
6. Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning,
Jesus, to thee be all glory given.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing:
Do you consider yourself one of the “faithful”?
Then come let us adore Him.
O Come Let Us Adore Him, Christ the Lord
