“Take a Whack at Weezer”
28 “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
During the holidays, I enjoyed talking to a dear cousin of mine. We reflected on the times in both of our lives when our loads were tremendous. We thought about how these times weighed on us and that’s when he made laugh. He related our feelings to a Steel Magnolia scene. He asked me,”Susan, did you ever want to “take a whack at Weezer?” My answer, “OH YES!” “Not one time, but many times, I wanted to “HIT SOMETHING, and HIT IT HARD!”
I think we can all relate to wanting to “take a whack at Weezer.” In Matthew 11, Jesus invites us to come. HE wants to support us and come to him in when we are suffering. The Lord wants to walk you through what life throws at you. HE wants you to call on Him when you want to “take a whack at Weezer.”

When my husband died my sweet friend Lisa was doing her best to comfort me. I looked at her and said, “Don’t be nice to me.” It was as if any kindness opened the flood gates of tears. So, in her own way she took a “whack at Weezer” and hit me in the arm and said, “ok, I won’t be nice to you, I will knock you out!” I burst into laughter and so did everyone around me. It was a Steel Magnolia moment. For inside, like Malin, I wanted to scream, “WHY! I just want to know why.” So by all means take a whack a Weezer and bring on the good medicine of laughter.
We all want to “take a wack at Weezie” sometimes. It’s tough to lay your burdens down, but we learn as we go. Always love your messages and videos. May God bless you throughout the 2020 and beyond!!
