Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve

The most famous choice quote among Jews and Christians alike.

Choices:  Every day we make hundreds of choices.  

Will I:

• eat sugar or remember I “can kill myself one bite at a time?”
•  stay up late watching TV and be foggy-brained tomorrow or will I be sensible and get the eight hours of sleep my body and mind need?
•  choose a mate that believes in the same values and in the same God or will I set myself up for constant conflict?
•  do what is right or convenient?
•  trust or be suspicious?
•  jump to conclusions or wait for all the facts?

The list is endless…………………..

The Choice

The Bride of Christ has a CHOICE!  She can choose to stay mired in the clay of this world or she can choose to say “Yes!” to the proposal as set out in the ketubah or marriage contract?

Simple Command: Love One Another

For the nation of Israel, the wife of God, the ketubah was the Ten Commandments.  A list of expectations and a litany of the consequences for both compliance and “doing what is right in your own eyes.”  For the church, the Bride-to-be of Christ, the ketubah is found in John 3:16-19 and requires that we believe who Jesus says He is.  And in John 15:15 Jesus tells us His expectation of His Church:  Love one another as He loved us and He tells us to “Go and make disciples.”  

Deliberate calculation

Abandon to Christ

We know abandon is to give up oneself to another without question:  To be mortar in the hand of a potter; to not give a “hoot in hell” what anyone thinks including your family.  You are proud to be called a child of God.  He is yours and you are HIS!  The pride you feel is in HIM and your heart is grateful for having been CHOSEN for this amazing role:  His Bride.
