Word for today: Beauty

Word for today: Beauty

Every day, I try to look for something that is beautiful.

Beauty of a lake

The beauty of a hydrangea

Clouds

Gorgeous sunsets

Sometimes all that is pointed out to us is ugly. But there is beauty in God’s creation each day.

Have we been programmed to only see negative things?

Look around and find beauty in your world.

I encourage you to get out today and see God’s beauty all around you. Yesterday I took a good friend for a “joy” ride. We looked at beautiful fields of corn, beans, and whatever else was out there. We saw streams that were full of refreshing rain for the earth. By now, late July, in Alabama the ground is usually hard and cracked, dry from summer drought. This year we have been blessed.

Field of corn

Matthew 6:28-29 (msg version) “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

Creation’s majesty

Also Read Psalm 8:1-9 (ESV version) All of God’s creation tells of His majesty.

Better days will come

At times, unfortunately, now, our world looks frightening. We focus our minds on the news, the virus, the economy. But our God is bigger than all of those things. He has a plan!! He is returning to receive us to himself. Maybe one day soon.

Receive a crown of  beauty for ashes

Isaiah 61:3 tells us He will turn all of this world’s grief into dancing. It will be even more than we can think or imagine.

One day, “he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they (all His people) will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” Isaiah 61:2-3

Father,

I pray that we will look at your heavens, your creation and even people who are made in your image. I ask that we stop and give you praise because you have made all things beautiful in your time. May I celebrate today and be thankful for what you have given us but also trust that you will take care to work out all things together for our good.

WE will praise you even in the storms.
