I would like for us to think about  “grace”, God’s grace.  Today, consider some of the things that grace involves. We know that grace is tied to mercy and love, particularly in regard to the grace of God.

By definition, grace is unmerited favor. We do not deserve God’s favor! We were all sinners. It is God’s gift for eternal life, salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. Webster’s dictionary defines it as 1.elegance or beauty of form, manner, motion, or action. 2. Mercy; clemency or pardon.

Amazing the Grace of God

God’s Throne

Hebrews 4:16 tells us to “come boldly to the throne of God to obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.”

Grace involves:

Salvation Ephesians 2:8-9 freely given

Enables a Christian to serve others 1 Corinthians 15:10, 1 Peter 4:10

Strengthens us 2 Timothy 2:1

Stirs in us a heart to give.2 Corinthians 8:3-7 giving is an act of grace.  Your talents, your time, and your money (ouch)

Grace gives us the desire and the power to do God’s work and His will!

“Grace is certainly God’s unmerited favor. However, is this all that grace is? God gives us the grace to keep us from sinning, and He gives us mercy when we do sin. Grace and mercy have different functions and are listed separately in Scripture. “Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16; see also I Timothy 1:2, Titus 1:4).” Does God’s grace give us the power to live in victory? | Institute in Basic Life Principles (iblp.org)

Word for Grace in Old Testament

In the Old Testament Hebrew, the word is CHEN from a root word CHANAN – to bend or stoop in kindness to another as a superior to an inferior (Strongs 2603) (Strong’s 2583). Also in Genesis 26:17 the phrase “to pitch a tent” is the word Chanan.

Takeaways:

God’s grace surrounds us and fences us in from the enemy. Secures us by His grace and mercy. It involves so many aspects of our lives. Healing, help, being lifted up, finding refuge, strength, and salvation( rescues us). And finally, His grace is given to us that we might continue the lineage to the next generation.

The wonder of Wonders is how the Grace of God is sufficient for all things pertaining to life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:2-3
