Expect His Arrival

He’s Coming in the Clouds is the first line of the song above. Jesus will one day step out from heavens’ throne to gather his church, his bride.

Matthew 24:36-42

36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drj inking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one]will be left. 42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.”

Keep your lamps filled

Will we be ready? Will our lamps be filled with oil? As Christians, we should think about our life with the understanding that Christ is coming again.

The early church lived their lives believing that today might be the day. In 2 Thessalonians chapter 4, Paul writes to the church, “We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep (died), so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.”

The church was concerned that their family and friends would miss the coming of Jesus. Paul reassures them in 2 Thessalonians 4:14-18. Those gone before us will rise first, then we who remain will be caught up with them and always be with the Lord. Paul prays for them in 1 Corinthians 1:4-7 that their testimony of Christ would be confirmed in them.

Eagerly Awaiting

Waiting for Arrival

First Corinthians 1:4-7, 4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed [b]in you, 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

The first church lived as though they may see Jesus coming in the clouds during their lifetime. Because of that, the gospel spread throughout the land. Their testimony was powerful because they were not willing to be silent. They wanted their family and friends to know Jesus and be ready whenever Jesus returned.

If only we lived as though it were that important to us for our friends and family. Our prayer is that everyone would understand the true meaning of living out Christ’s gospel. May we all be eagerly awaiting Christ return with our lamps filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit.

Wedding Day by accapella

We are to be presented as a bride who is spotless and blameless!

Let’s press on for the high calling of God. Philippians 3:14

Keep looking up treaders!
