“If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.” Isaiah 7:9b

Firm in Our Faith

Standing firm in our faith is not an easy-peasy part of life. It is determined by our belief system. When our beliefs line up with what we read in God’s Word, then it is easier because the Holy Spirit living in us guides us. John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

John 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

Memorize God’s Word and use it to pray

The verse below has been our prayer in the Ladies 3 class for a while now.

4 “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. 5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. 6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from old.” Psalms 25:4-6

Lessons from Isaiah the prophet

Our Sunday School lesson this quarter is from the book of Isaiah. In Sunday’s lesson we find the scripture quoted in the beginning text. This was God’s message to Isaiah for Ahaz the King of Judah. Ahaz was facing the invasion from two of his neighbors. Ahaz refused to join them, instead asking for help from their enemy Assyria. But God was to be their protector. They were to trust God and not man’s strength. Ahaz refused God’s message and had to reap the consequences.

Application for life in today’s world

We as a nation are facing a troubling time. This scripture in Isaiah jumped out at me while I was preparing the lesson. “If we do not stand in our faith, we will not stand at all.”

One version that was read by a member of the class was written: If you do not learn to believe my promises, you will not be protected. (my paraphrase)

God does not want us to live afraid, insecure, and ignorant of His plans. He wants to show us, guide us, teach us to be strong when we face the storms of our lives. I believe He is preparing His people to be able to stand firm in the coming days and perhaps months.

Learn to believe His promises! In order to do that you must spend time in prayer with Him, read His word, learn what He has promised. Be a practicing believer not a spectator!

STAND FIRM

Stand and see the salvation of our God. Exodus 14:13 “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord that He will provide for you today.”

“If we don’t stand firm in our faith, we will not stand at all.”

Treading Until… with you !!!
