Jesus My Lighthouse

Jesus My Lighthouse

2 Corinthians 4:6

For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to bring to light the knowledge of the glory of God on the face of [Jesus] Christ.”  Jesus our lighthouse guiding us home.

I have always loved pictures of lighthouses. Through the years I have hung many in my home. My favorite is the picture by Thomas Kincade of The Guiding Light. https://youtu.be/AXR5XUS34wc  Mr. Kinkade gives his interpretation of the picture in the video.  It’s worth a few minutes of our time.

I appreciate special friends who give gifts of light.

Genesis 1:3 “Then God said,”Let there be light, and there was light.”

These were some of the first words God spoke in creation. So, I think it must have been very important to have light. I am glad He didn’t created us to walk in darkness.

Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear?”

Psalm 27:1

The psalmist knew the Lord was his light. He trusted that light to guide him, not only guide but provide salvation.

Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light dawned on those living in the land of darkness.”

Isaiah prophesied of a greater light coming to those who live in the land of darkness.

Jesus is that greater light.

John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

John 8:12 “Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Matthew 5:14  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Philippians 2:14-15  ” Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world”

We are to be the light in the darkness for this world.  My thought for today.

Father,

Help me to be a light in the darkness for you today.  Jesus, I thank you for my salvation. Thank you Holy Spirit for guiding me through the dark times. Thank you that you are my lighthouse. Your light is always shining to bring the wandering home safely.  May you be praise.

John 8:12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
