Words of Life —Talking to myself
Do you have a continuous dialogue going on in your head? Chatter! Words, sentences, thoughts, songs, memories and all manner of neutrons are firing in your head. It has been said that guys have a “zone” where they can think about “nothing”. It is a place where silence dwells! (Or so I’m told.) I can’t believe that because I am sure the same Holy Spirit in me also sends good thoughts to everyone if we will surrender to Him.
In my last blog, I wrote about the important of our words. Our words can bring life or death to another person. Today, I want us to look at the words we use on ourselves.
Matthew 15:18-20 New King James Version (NKJV)
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
Matthew 12:34b New King James Version (NKJV)34b For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
The Enemy Seeks To Destroy Our souls
We have an enemy that wants to destroy our soul. His most effective tool is to pierce our minds with fiery darts. Our thoughts of discontent, unworthiness and other destroyers of our correct image as a child of God.
The enemy’s world in unreality! The reality is we have been redeemed, cleansed and given the Holy Spirit to fight this world of unreality.
We Must Be Responsible For Our Thoughts and Words
You and I must do our part though. Paul told the Corinthian believers in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, 4 “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
Here is a link that gives you and me 6 ways to take our thoughts captive.

The process begins with knowing you are a child of God but not just a head knowledge. It has to be a “heart knowing!” Pay attention to what is being said in your mind.
First, recognize it as the enemy of your soul.
Next, begin to tell yourself, out loud, if necessary. Until you belief it, continue saying “truth talk.” Here are a few verses that we can begin to use to defeat the lies the enemy sends our way.
