Let my words be life
Ephesians 4:29 Amplified Bible (AMP) 29 “Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].
In today’s world, we hear so many critical words. We hear them from our politicians, leaders, and especially our evening sitcoms. Words are sow seeds of self-criticisms, destructive behaviors and broken lives.
God’s Word speaks a lot about how powerful words can be.
His words brought this beautiful world in which we live into existence. Our words will either bring life and death to those around.
Proverbs 18: 1-4 “Unfriendly people care only about themselves; they lash out at common sense.2 Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.3 Doing wrong leads to disgrace, and scandalous behavior brings contempt.4 Wise words are like deep waters;wisdom flows from the wise like a bubbling brook.”
Proverbs 18:13-15,”Spouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish.14 The human spirit can endure a sick body,but who can bear a crushed spirit?15 Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.”
Proverbs 18:19-21,”An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars.20 Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
So the thought for today: Let your words bring life.
