Prepare our Hearts

Prepare Our Hearts

Lord, prepare our hearts to worship you.

Recently, my husband and I went to see our daughter,grandson his precious wife and our great granddaughter.

It is a seven hour trip through the Mississippi Delta and the rich farmland of Arkansas. I always enjoy the drive in the spring and fall. In the spring, the farmlands are prepared for the coming seasons crops. The soil is tilled the rows are straight.

The farmers have prepared their fields for planting!

The Lord Prepares our Hearts

As I drove, I was reminded the Lord also has a field that he prepares. It is the heart of mankind.

Psalm 10:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+10%3A17&version=NKJVLord, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,

But as in most things, God gives us opportunities to share in His work thorough our lives. In a recent article, the author makes a great point. “A heart prepared for Yeshua’s return is a heart prepared to know God, enjoy Him, and love Him always. A prepared heart is an undivided heart.”  The psalmist wrote, “Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.” (Psalm 86:11). A prepared heart has an upward focus: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:2). A prepared heart is a heart full of faith (Hebrews 11:6), filled with songs of deliverance (Psalms 32:7).http://www.jewishjewels.org/news-letters/a-prepared-heart/

One Way

This field has been prepared and planted. I could  not help but notice the sign that stood in front of the field. It said, “ONE WAY”. How appropriate a reminder that there is only One Way to have eternal life. That way is through Jesus.

In the gospel of Matthew and in Mark, Jesus tells the parable of the sower and the conditions of the soil. He explains the parable to His disciples later that day in private. Jesus is the sower, the seed is the gospel and the soil is the condition of a person’s heart.

Examining my Heart

I had to stop and ask myself, “What kind of crop am I sowing?” Will it bring 30 fold, 60 fold or a 100 fold? Does it have weeds of sin crowding out what I sow each day? Is my heart so hard that I can’t hear from the Lord about my sinful state? Am I willing to let my trials and troubles move me closer to Him?

My desire is to sow as much good seed of the gospel as I am able.With Jesus help we all can multiple the gospel to our world. I pray you will think about the condition of your soil (heart) and the kind of seed you are sowing. We are to constantly examine our hearts because God’s seed (the Word) says our hearts are desperately wicked who can know it. I try to remind myself that weeds can grow without any planting of mine

A flash from the past. A hymn from an old time camp meeting.

And this one too.

Sometimes we just need to get back to our roots. (pun intended)

Love in Christ,
