The Choice is Yours
As humans we know the difference between right and wrong. We all have a conscience down inside us, some deeper than others but nevertheless it is still there. Every day a war rages inside all of us between good and evil right and wrong and that doesn’t stop after you become a Christian. Just because you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior doesn’t mean everything is going to be easy. Now that you are a Christian you know that the battle goes deeper than good and evil. The battle is between God and sin. During Sunday School our teacher read a poem that touched me and I pray it does the same to you.
There are two natures
Living in my soul
One is cursed
And one is blessed
One I love
And one I hate
But whichever one I feed
will dominate
Which nature will you feed? Even as Christians we are going to make mistakes and plenty of them. God doesn’t just use perfect Christians (which doesn’t exist!) for His work. He uses us even with all our scars and bruises. We shouldn’t be ashamed of our weaknesses and mistakes because God’s grace is enough to wash us clean.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NLT)
Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” so now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Even if we make a mess of things God can use it for good. The important thing is to make a personal decision everyday to live that day for Christ. But repenting isn’t just enough. God values our obedience rather than our apologies.
1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT)
But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.
We can’t just say I’m sorry. We have to repent and obey God’s will for us. God blesses us when we obey His Word.
Luke 11:28 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear
the word of God and put it into practice”
But no matter how many times we may mess up God will always be there to forgive us and grace will always win but the choice is yours.
Which nature will you feed?
