About Paula Wallace

A child of God, wife, mother and grandmother of 6 precious children. I love art, nature and treasure my dear friends. Through the valleys and mountaintops, God led me to His saving grace at the age of 32. Since then the valleys and mountaintops have proven His love to me. I am learning to trust Him in all things. My prayer is that you, too, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and trust Him. The Bible verse that I lean on mostly is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”NKJV Paula Wallace

Dare to be Different

The things of this world seem to pull people into its grip. The television is one thing that brings the world into our life. Have you ever noticed that when you are in a room where the television is playing, that your eyes are drawn to the TV. It doesn’t matter your intent, whether you plan to read a book or have a conversation, the eyes turn to the television. Social media has people wishing they lived someone else’s life. The life we should live is a different life than the world.

“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.” ‭‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5:4-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬  https://www.bible.com/114/1th.5.4-8.nkjv

Different from the World

Paul is writing to brethren in this letter. This means you and me if you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. There are four ways that we as Christians need to be in order to be different from the world.

  1. Light not darkness. Darkness is living in sin and ignorance of the things of God. Put aside any temptation of darkness and be light. Enjoy the sunlight and avoid the destructive surprises of darkness.
  2. Day not night. ‘Son of’ is a characteristic of someone. We are sons of the day. This means we should be sensitive, alert and prepared.
  3. Awake not asleep. Don’t go to sleep spiritually and let your guard down. Stay in the word. Pray without ceasing and be obedient. Be prepared for the return of the Lord.
  4. Sober not drunk. Drunkenness leads to a lack of self control and indulgence. We must be self-controlled always.

Different in our Dress

Finally, get dressed. Put on love and faith as you walk in the light. When Jesus Christ returns, we need to be prepared and alert. Then put on the helmet which is the hope of salvation or deliverance. Hope is the expectation of or confidence in our deliverance from destruction.

Be Spiritually Awake

As a Christian, we must dare to live a life different from the world. Seek to be the light, the day, awake and sober. Live your day as though Christ is returning immediately. Don’t get caught spiritually asleep.
