The Martins He Leadeth Me
Follow the Master
While vacationing at the beach, I noticed a man walking with his dog. The dog walked beside his master, occasionally stopping to smell something or look closer. He never seemed to get far away from his master except for this one time. The dog noticed and smelled something very distracting and lingered while the man got farther and farther away. The man kept walking thinking the dog would turn away from its distraction, but it didn’t. The master called the dog and it ran to him immediately.
Focus on God
So many times in life, distractions occupy our minds and actions. Focusing on God all the time is a challenge with the world constantly tugging at our minds. Walking with our Master, on occasion, seems easy. We seek His direction and follow.
Direction of Obedience
Then there are times we turn our heads with interest and briefly turn from the direction of obedience. By keeping our thoughts on God, we turn away from distractions and continue on the path of obedience.
“Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” II Corinthians 10:5b NKJV
Opposed to the Will of God
However; there are times a person may entertain the distraction in the mind. By lingering too long, the thought may turn into an action that is opposed to the will of God.
“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16, NKJV.
Do Not Be Distracted
As a child of God, the Spirit urges us to turn away and follow Him. Keep walking in the direction He walks. If we are seeking the direction of the Master, we will not stray or be distracted by the world.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10, NKJV
A Path is Prepared
God has prepared a path for us. We are created in Christ to do His will. Follow the Master and keep your eyes on Him. Do not go the way of the world or allow its distractions to lead you astray.
