Philippians 1:6
I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it out to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Are we not so thankful for this verse!!!
Are we not so thankful for all those who cared enough about us to pray for us, nurture us, pray for us, nurture us and pray for us and pray for us and pray for us……
Well, I don’t know about you; but I’m pretty sure it took/takes all those prayers for me…
I am so thankful for a grandmother (Mama Hill) who loved me, cared for me and planted seeds of a Love for Jesus all around me.
I always knew it was something different about her….
And whatever it was, I always knew I wanted to be just like her.
She loved Jesus…..
She had no trouble telling whomever she encountered that they too should love Him.
Saturday nights spent with her went something like this….
We watched the Lawrence Welk Show…..
Then she would work with me, my brother & my sister on a Bible verse.
When we were ready to say it, she let us stand up on the little green footstool with head held high and recite it…she was so proud of us. Little did we know she was mentoring us….
She loved people…….
It didn’t matter if they were red, yellow, black or white…She just loved them. She didn’t judge them. I suppose she knew whose job that was. (Unlike some of us.)
She was so giving…..
If she had it and you wanted it….it was yours for the taking.
She made sure all her neighbors had food. She made sure her family was taken care of.
Was she rich? Oh Yes….. Rich with the love of Jesus.
She was the Bible that someone may never read.
She knew God’s word. She knew why she believed it and lived it.
Wow….If I want to be like Mama Hill I have a long way to go!
Thank you Lord that You who started a good work in me will carry it out to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
“He’s Still working on me
To make me what I need to be
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars
The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be
‘Cause He’s still working on me!”
