About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18.  My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.

God Uses The Unlikely

“The Unlikely”

“When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the LORD’s anointed!” But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (NLT)  1 Samuel 16:6-7 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+16%3A6-7&version=NLT

God can use the Unlikely

I was searching for something to study with my bible study class and I came across a video from “I Am Second.” The video is called, “Dysfunction to Dynasty.” It is an 8 part series on the Robertson family and how they overcame dysfunction and found redemption. As I watched these films and all that has taken place in this family’s lives for generations, it amazed me at how God uses the unlikeliest of people to do His work. We of course see this throughout the bible. (I Am Second: Dysfunction to Dynasty)  God uses the unlikely

I don’t have to be perfect!

Thinking about this family and how God uses them today reminded me that I don’t have to be perfect for God to use me. Think about the people in your life. What have they gone through? Who are they today? How has God used them or how is He using them now? I never thought my son and I would become authors. I never thought my son would become an inspirational speaker, but that is exactly where we are today. God uses unlikely people sometimes; the people who aren’t the smartest, strongest, richest, most powerful, or famous.

Out of your comfort zone

When I was asked to lead a bible studies group about 4 years ago, my first reaction was a look of huh?! My first question was, “Does Brother Scott know you are asking ME? I was the least qualified person for the job, but it has grown me so much. God really knows how to push you out of your comfort zone and he sure shoved me on this one.

God Can Use You

We all have dysfunction somewhere in our family. Don’t think because of your background, what you have done, the mistakes you have made, or the lack of skills you see yourself having, that God can’t use you. He sure can and will certainly send you on an assignment you were not expecting to travel on. He will equip you to do His work.

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
