About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18.  My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.

Gift of Grandchildren

“Gift of Grandchildren”

“Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.” Proverbs 17:6 (NLT)

My Gift

Baker Gray Browder

I received another precious gift! On December 17th, my second grandchild was born. I didn’t get to meet him face to face, but I got to meet my grandson, Baker Gray Browder, through facetime. I was sitting in a faculty meeting on the 17th of December, I felt my phone vibrate and saw a message from my son, Nick. As I opened the text, I silently wept.  I walked out of the faculty meeting, I began to look over every inch of the photos to get the best look possible at my grandson. He was the cutest chunk of 8 pounds and 9 ounces!

Joy

Nixon Lyn Browder

The next few moments, I thought about his big sister, Nixon Lyn. I thought about how much joy she has brought to our lives, and how that was about to be doubled. As the tears trickled down my face, God reminded me what a gift grandchildren are. The way my granddaughter looks at me and the feeling I receive from that look, is a blessing I treasure each time. I can’t wait for Baker Gray to look at me the same way.

My Mom

The next few moments, I thought about my mom, and how much she would enjoy seeing her grandchildren grow up, how they would look at her with love, and the joy her great grandchildren would bring her. Even though I am grateful she was blessed to spend 3 years and 7 months with her grandson, Nick, it breaks my heart when I think about how she didn’t get to enjoy being a grandmother longer.

“May you live to enjoy your grandchildren. May Israel have peace!“ Psalm 128:6 (NLT)

So today, if you have been blessed with grandchildren, I hope you soak in every moment and love these moments. Enjoy your grandchildren and thank the Lord for this role in your life. Remember to give thanks and praise to the one above for the gift of grandchildren. I know I sure do! I tell them I love them dozens of times each visit.

Counting My Blessings!
