“When Life Doesn’t Go Like We Planned”
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.“ Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
I just finished watching the movie “Love Kennedy.” The movie begins showing a “hot mess” of a little girl and a family with a strong foundation of faith. They were going about life like they had planned, raising their children, until life didn’t go as they planned. It’s a true story of a “one of a kind” little girl with a rare and terminal illness, Juvenile Batten Disease. She had a contagious love for life, loved everyone, and never saw her illness as having any challenges. (Love, Kennedy)
God’s Glory
When the movie was close to being over, it showed the dad replaying all the memories with his daughter. Kennedy. I could see and feel the heartbreak in his eyes, as he remembered what his daughter was like before her diagnoses, and then living with the diagnosis, and preparing for the end. This family was able to witness the kind hearts of children stepping up to make Kennedy’s time special, see their daughter change lives, and most importantly lead others to the Lord.
Make It Even Better
You see, when life doesn’t go like we planned, we have the opportunity to make it even better than we planned it all out in our minds. This movie really hit home for me. I am so blessed to have Jacob with me. Life did not go as we planned for Jacob and it has been the hardest thing to walk through. God has taken us through every bit of it. Even though my life has not gone like I planned, my eyes have witnessed, and are still witnessing, more than I could ever hope to. The Lord has moved all in the right time for us.
What I Got to See
The Lord’s plans allowed my family a second chance. I got to see my son walk, talk, and do all the first things a child does all over again. Also, I got to see God restore my son piece by piece. I am still seeing the Lord answer my prayers today. So you see, when life doesn’t go like we planned, make it even better. Keep telling God that you need Him. Keep asking and don’t let the pressures of life make you give up.
Counting My Blessings,
